About Us

Our history

Translexis Ltd was founded in 1986 by Niki Watts, already an experienced Greek translator, to offer high quality Greek language services.

She was later joined by Quentin, who with a background in chemistry and lengthy experience in the pharmaceutical industry, helped strengthen the company's resources in technical translation from Greek into English.

The company is based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, a small market town about 12 miles northwest of the university city of Cambridge.

Our language services

Our core business is translation from Greek into English and English into Greek.

From time to time, Translexis has also been involved in publishing and has acted as a consultant to major publishers such as Oxford University Press and HarperCollins Publishers.

Niki has also written a number of books on Modern Greek, for details see Greek books.

Our clients

Our clients range from private individuals to major multinationals and we are privileged to include among our customers leading companies in manufacturing, services, health care and the financial sector in both the UK and worldwide. We also work for public sector organisations and act as subcontractors to a number of general and specialist translation companies.

The nature of our clients' business demands that we take confidentiality and security of data very seriously. For example the workstations we use for translation have no internet connection and files that need to be on servers connected to the internet for communication purposes are promptly deleted when no longer required.

Whilst we recognise our professional obligation not to reveal our clients' identities or confidential information and undertake this obligation as a matter of course, we are always ready to enter into any reasonable formal secrecy agreement.
