If a translation is to be used for official purposes, e.g.
issue of a passport, opening a bank account, a wedding in Greece
or Cyprus, it is usually necessary to have a translation
certified.
We offer the following forms of certification:
- By a qualified Member of the Institute of Translation &
Interpreting - such certification is often required in the
case of Greek documents which are translated into English to
support a passport application, changing the name on a bank
account, etc.
- For the Greek Consulate in London - this is principally
required for documents to be used in Greece, e.g. a
wedding. The documents need to be translated and certified by
a translator recognised by the Greek Consulate.
- Affidavits - a translation is performed by a translator
who then swears as to the accuracy of the translation before a
Commissioner for Oaths.
- Notarised translation - this is often needed if a
translation is to be used abroad for legal reasons.
We regret we cannot offer advice as to the form of certification required for various purposes. You will need to establish the form of certification and we will provide the necessary documentation.
